“There is a great deal of strength gained from knowing someone who has walked where you are walking, and now has a life of their own choosing.”

If you are a Kiwi male who has suffered sexual abuse. You are not alone. 1 in 6 males in Aotearoa have experienced sexual violence as young men. You have chosen the right place to begin your recovery journey.  We can help you reclaim the life that was stolen from you. We are here to walk with you... moving towards a better future.

We work with male survivors and their family/whānau to help them build happier and healthier lives. We offer support services that are founded on mutual trust and respect, are non-judgmental, focused on hope and recovery. We believe that all survivors are entitled to make their own decisions and choose their own recovery pathway. We are here to support that choice.

We are a member organisation of Tautoko Tāne Aotearoa and part of an active nationwide network of service centres that currently support more than 1,500 male survivors across Aotearoa

As a new service in Hawkes Bay we are committed to connecting with other organisations who work within the sexual violence sector and finding ways to work together for the benefit of the Hawkes Bay community.

Guiding Values and Principles

Ako Collaborative learning

We learn from each other, and grow our self-awareness through mutual, meaningful interaction. We walk beside you and support you on your healing and well being journey.

Pitomata Potential for change

We believe that positive, meaningful change is possible for everyone. We focus on people's strengths and encourage their dreams. We also expect setbacks, because we know from our own experience that tough times often bring positive growth.

Mana Motuhake Self-determination

Self-determination is a human right, grounded in freedom and equality. Without this collective right, people in minority groups cannot be in control of their own lives. We encourage people to make their own choices and find their own path in life, because everyone benefits if we are all free to grow.

Whanaungatanga Relationships

We take time to get to know each other, expect to see some things differently, and welcome conversations that promote understanding and learning for all.

Wheako Lived Experience

There's a growing body of research that suggests lived experience has benefits that can't be found through traditional services. We believe there's value in what we have learned through our life experences, and we aim to share that thoughtfully with others.

Tautoko Tāne Hawkes Bay is in partnership with Dove Hawkes Bay. We feel very fortunate to be supported by Dove HB and the resources they have available to support the Tāne we work with and their whanau.
